Description and Objectives
- Design a Benchmark Image Database of NASA Science Data that will benefit Goddard and the Education and Research University Community by:
- Enabling Teaching Image Processing Techniques on Illustrative NASA-Centric Applications Data,
- Providing Benchmark NASA Science Data for New Research Algorithms,
- Fostering Image Processing Collaborations between NASA Goddard and University Research Groups
IMAGESEER Home Page
Technical Approach
- Complete Database and User Interface of Representative NASA Datasets Stored in at Least 2 Unique Formats, Easily Readable by the University Community, along with:
- Basic Knowledge of Application Domains
- "Ground-Truth" Results
- Specific Problems to be Solved, as Defined by Domain Scientists
Main Innovation(s)
- Selection of Problems and Data Representative of NASA Applications and Challenges/ First NASA-centric Benchmark Image Database
- "Friendly" Data Formats with Original Data Registered with Ground Truth Data
Infusion Potential
- Current and Future NASA Science Imaging Missions, e.g.:
- LDCM (Landsat Data Continuity Mission)
- LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter)
- HyspIRI (Hyperspectral InfraRed Imager)
