Description and Objectives
  • To provide fast and accurate image registration for:
    • Spatial and radiometric calibration of multi-temporal measurements
    • Accurate change detection
    • Extrapolation of data throughout several scales for multi-scale phenomena
  • To provide methods applicable for the ground or onboard with adaptive levels of processing speed and accuracy, including a choice of full images or chips registration

Technical Approach
  • Leverage previous algorithms development with:
    • Feature extraction based on wavelet decomposition
    • Feature matching based on a multi-resolution optimization search of a rigid transformation
    • An optional resampling option
  • Utilize USGS/Global Land Survey (GLS 2000) orthorectified maps as ground truth or reference for the registration algorithms
  • Create a chip database extracted from GLS2000
  • Test algorithms using EO ALI data
